When Fear Visits

If you’re a creative type, it can be a bit challenging to wear the many hats you need to wear, stay focused on tasks that need to be done, and stay clear enough to focus on activities that will bring in income… AND be creative; all at the same time.
I admit it has been a bit challenging for me to shift from working on a contract with regular income to working on my business when I don’t see a lot of money sitting in the bank yet, and there’s lots of ground work to be done.
You may be familiar with the phrase, “what you resist, persists.”
Fear is an emotion that often elicits resistance. What’s your relationship with fear?
Too often I fight fear. I try to pretend it doesn’t exist. And it tightens its grip on me in a kind of energetic tug-of-war. I recently had an inspired idea to try a different approach the next time it popped up.
This morning, when I started working, and felt the fear arise, I said, “OK, Fear, I want you to sit right next to me. I paused, and felt it’s presence tighten my gut. Then I asked, what shall we get started on today?”
I let Fear choose. And Fear eased it’s tight grip on me:)
It has been a peaceful partnership, and an overall fun and productive day!! :)
If you’ve spent a lifetime fighting or resisting fear as I have, what would happen if you treated it like a friend and a partner?
